About Bonnie Krims

Bonnie KrimsBonnie Krims is one of only a handful of paint color experts who has earned national recognition as an architectural paint color consultant in the United States. She is celebrated for her work as a consultant and her special ability to select colors that feel like "the clients' own colors". Bonnie is adept at developing paint color schemes that not only reflect the needs of the client, but also highlight the important design features of the house. Bonnie Krims is a member of the International Association of Color Consultants (IACCNA).

She first gained recognition with the publication of her bestselling, The Perfect Palette in 1998, which was Editors Choice Book of the Month Club. "In the 1980's, when I launched my color consulting business, almost no one was using interesting paint color in their homes. By the 90's that would all change". Bonnie has written three more books: The Perfectly Painted House (Rockport Publishers, 2002), which ranks as one of the Top Ten Inspiring Books for 2005 by HGTV's Curb Appeal. Perfect Palettes For Painting Rooms (Rockport Publishers 2003), which is also a Country Homes and Gardens Book of the Month Club selection, and Painting Your House Inside and Out (Thunder Bay Press, 2003). She is a contributing writer for The Experts Guide to Life at Home created by Samantha Ettus (Clarkson Potter, fall 2005).

Bonnie and her work have been featured in publications such as, Good Housekeeping, Home Magazine, Elle Magazine, Women's Day, Better Homes & Gardens, House and Garden, Traditional Home-Renovation Style, Alternative Medicine Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune and The Boston Globe Magazine.

Bonnie has recently started appearing on popular Home and Garden television shows, including the PBS series, THIS OLD HOUSE®, where she served as Paint Color Expert creating the exterior paint color scheme for an 1849 Greek revival, The Bradford Heald house.

Her mission, to bring interesting color to the home, hasn't changed since she started her paint color consulting in business in 1988, but her focus is shifting from the inside of the house to the outside. "During the past decade, people have increasingly embraced color inside their homes while ignoring the outside". "Homes are just crying out for well chosen, architecturally appropriate colors. The paint colors and the architecture should reinforce each other. My goal is to play a major role in the renaissance of exterior color in architecture-to bring intelligent paint color choices to as many buildings as possible".

Bonnie holds a Master's Degree in Fine Arts. She lives in the Boston area with her husband and two children, surrounded by the paintings of her late father, renowned Cape Cod artist Curtis Rosser.
