Enhance Your Entry Hall

If you feel that it is time to update, invigorate or otherwise improve the “feel” of your home, here’s a tip. Just paint the entrance hall, breezeway, mudroom or foyer.

It is the first space and sometimes the only space that guests see in your home and it sets the tone for the rest of the house. A great color in the entry will not only give visitors a lift, it will improve your spirits as well. And, painting is the most cost effective way to give your foyer impact.

Choose a color that represents your aesthetic preference and that matches the feel of the first floor of your home. It should be a color that makes you comfortable and happy. If your foyer is open to other rooms, you must pick a wall color that fits with your existing color scheme. If your foyer is a separate space, you have more creative freedom. A properly chosen color will add drama and character to the room, without cluttering it with more furniture and decorations. This is especially true with deep colors such as grape, rust, or gold.

So, if you need a lift this winter but don’t want to delve too deeply into repainting the house, simply give your foyer a refresher. You’ll be amazed at the results!
