Are you stumped when it comes to choosing exterior paint colors for your home? Need a little inspiration? You are certainly in good company!
Carefully selected paint colors significantly improve your home's appearance!
These folks were selling their house and knew that they had a problem... They wanted to create an eye-catching house with more curb appeal. The house was crying out for a new color scheme.
Rather than using their existing 2-color scheme, we settled on a single body color. The new color, an easygoing slate blue, was brightened up with some cream trim. This gave the house a more unified appearance and everyone was happy with the end result.
This home was looking a little sad. So, we brightened it up!
The "Before" shot of this large Victorian is looking a little old and tired. The homeowners were not interested in a Victorian "painted lady". Rather, they wanted a home that felt grounded and handsome with clean lines.
They decided on a simple color treatment that fit nicely in the neighborhood. It looks cohesive, and honors the house's historical details without being garish. They feel that they met their goals of simplicity, groundedness and subtlety with this color scheme.
New shutters provided the opportunity to add an additional color to the scheme. We succeeded in giving this house a more lively and opulent appearance that the clients were thrilled with. Now this house is delightful!
My client wanted a more welcoming and uplifting feel for their cute cottage. They also knew that they wanted it gray.
Mission Accomplished! The new light slate gray (right) is a perfect Cape Cod cottage color, light enough to be airy and welcoming. It complements a new brick front walk, porch decking, and landscaping. A butter-yellow front door provides a cheery welcome.
Sometime it is difficult for homeowners to deal with painted elements on their brick, stone or stucco homes.
The masonry provides a default starting color that can't be changed, and any wood and trim elements need to complement it, not clash. Often I look for something in the opposing color families in a subtle tint that works with the existing colors.
This "after" photo of a stone, brick and clapboard home incorporates paint colors that are truly apropos for the house.
Best Wishes,
--Bonnie
